The roastery

A small room, a vintage drum, and a lot of patience.

Northbound started in 2014 with a second-hand roaster in a garage on Dundas Street. We never wanted to be big. We wanted to know every farm by name and roast each coffee the way it asks to be roasted.

Our craft

Roasted by hand, profiled by taste

Every green coffee that arrives gets sample-roasted and tasted before it ever reaches the shelf. We chase the sweet spot where origin character is loudest, then write that profile down and repeat it batch after batch. No automation, no rushing the cool-down.

We pay above fair-trade rates and travel to the farms we can reach. The relationships are the point. Better prices for growers mean better beans for you, and a supply we can stand behind.

"We are not trying to be the biggest roaster in Ontario. Just the one your kitchen smells like on a Sunday."
